Render: Numbering, Documents and Work Breakdown for ClickUp.
Four separate tools for ClickUp in one account: automatic numbering, documents generated from task data, work breakdown codes and anchor linking. Use one, two or all four.
Deterministic and Flat
Code, Not Credits.
Numbers, documents and work breakdown codes are produced by code, not by a model, so Render consumes no AI credits and has no AI tier to upgrade to. Let Render do the administration the same way every time, and point your AI at the interesting work. Your cost does not climb because a workflow got smarter.

- No AI credits consumed
- No Make or Zapier license needed
- No scenarios to build, test or monitor
- No AI add-on tier to upgrade to
Four Tools
Pick the Tool That Fits the Job
Render shares one account and your ClickUp connections across four separate tools. Each has its own trigger, rules and setup, and none depends on another. Works on every ClickUp plan.
Tool 1 of 4
LiveSequencer: Advanced Custom Task IDs and Numbering
Advanced custom task IDs and automatic task numbering for ClickUp. Give tasks a unique number such as CERT-2026-0042 the moment they reach the state you choose, and write it back to a ClickUp field.
- Patterns with year, month, day, fiscal year, quarter, task ID or custom field values, padded the way you want
- Restart yearly, monthly, daily or on your fiscal year, with nothing to schedule
- Never a duplicate: a number is unique for the life of the series, and a task asked twice gets the same number back
- Test on a real task first: see every rule checked and the number it would get, without spending one
- A filterable activity feed of every number issued and every delivery step
No AI involved. A number is a single database statement, not a prediction, so there are no tokens to spend and nothing to upgrade as your series grows. Save your AI for work that needs judgment.
Tool 2 of 4
LiveStructured Outputs: Documents, PDFs and Reports From Task Data
ClickUp outputs from your own templates: turn a task into a finished PDF such as a certificate, invoice, report or letter. The same input always produces the same file.
- Upload the template you already have as a PDF, PNG or JPEG, or build a layout from scratch with text, boxes, rules and a QR code
- Pull values from the task, including computed values such as "valid until two years from issue", with consistent date, number, currency and duration formats
- Preview the real document before anyone receives one, with long names and empty fields on purpose
- Required fields are enforced: a document with a missing name is never issued, and every missing value is listed at once
- The file, a verification link, a comment, tags and a status go back onto the task, and a failed delivery retries without attaching the file twice
- Every document is recorded in a registry with a public QR verification page that shows whether it is still valid
Rendered by code, not a model. The same input gives the same file every time, with no AI credits consumed. Let it handle the paperwork while your agents do the thinking.
Tool 3 of 4
LiveWBS Mapper: Work Breakdown Structure Codes for Tasks
ClickUp WBS and work breakdown structured tasks. Give every task its place in your project's work breakdown structure, as codes like 1, 1.2 and 1.2.3, so deliverables are easy to reference, report on and keep in order.
- Choose the root, and the Mapper works out each task's position in the tree beneath it
- Review the codes before anything is written to ClickUp
- Codes follow the structure, so they stay right when tasks are added or moved
- Write codes to a ClickUp field and use them in Sequencer numbers and Structured Outputs documents
Computed from your structure, not generated by AI. No per-run AI charge as your projects grow, and no AI tier to move up to.
Tool 4 of 4
LiveCode Linker: Anchor Tasks, Linking and Rollups
ClickUp anchor and linking. Link a project to its work, pass the project code down to every linked task, and roll hours, cost and progress back up onto the anchor.
- Pick one anchor task, such as a project, and link it to the Lists or Folders that hold its work
- Values down: change the code once on the anchor and the linked tasks follow, including tasks added later
- Totals up: sum, count, minimum, maximum and completion, with each task counted once
- Preview first: see every task, every total and its formula before anything is turned on
- One owner per field, so two links can never fight over the same field
- Rules, not AI: no credits, no model, the same result every time
Included With Render
Registry: A Built-In Record of Everything You Issue
Every number and document Render produces can be kept in one searchable register. It is built in to the account, not a separate tool, and it works with Structured Outputs, the Sequencer and Code Linker.
Structured Outputs Sequencer Code Linker
Searchable Register
Find any record by number, title or task, filter by status, and see every file version and what happened to it.
Public Verification
Anyone holding a document can scan its QR code and see whether it is valid, revoked or expired, checked live on every visit.
Revoke, Never Delete
Withdraw a record with a reason, set a valid-until date or hide the public link. The record and its history are always kept.
Your Data, Your Copy
Export the whole register to CSV in one click, or keep a copy as ordinary tasks in your own ClickUp list.
Drift Reporting
If the ClickUp copy is edited by hand, Render reports the difference and leaves your edits alone unless you choose to repair them.
No AI, No Meter
The register is built from your records by code, so there is no AI usage to track and no add-on tier to buy.
Why Purpose-Built
Tools That Do the Work for You
A fully customizable automation platform can do almost anything, and that is exactly the catch. You design it, test it, watch it and fix it. Render tools are built for specific jobs, so the work is already done and you only answer the setup questions.
Customizable tools are the right answer when your need is truly unique, and that is what our custom builds are for. When your need is numbering, documents or work breakdown codes, a tool built for the job does the work for you.
How It Works
From Task to Number to Verified Document
The numbering and document steps are a choice, not a sequence: number tasks without generating a file, generate documents from tasks that carry no number, or do both and put the number on the page.
Trigger
A ClickUp automation, an external system, a person or the API starts the run, whichever fits how you already work.
Number
The next value in your series, with prefixes, padding, dates and per-client or per-location counters. Never duplicated, never re-spent on a retry.
Document
Your PDF, PNG or JPEG template merged with the task's own values, rendered the same way every time.
Write Back
The file attached to the task, the number in your field, a comment or a status: only the things you configured.
Registry
A record in Kodavara, and optionally a synchronized task in your own ClickUp registry list.
Verify
A QR code and link that say whether a document is still valid, and say so honestly when it has been revoked.
Examples
What Teams Number and Generate
Sample numbers and documents. Patterns are yours to define.
Certificates
Training, safety and completion certificates with a number and a QR code anyone can check. Example: CERT-2026-0042.
Invoices
Invoice numbers that restart each year or on your fiscal year. Example: INV-2026-0418.
Work Orders
Sequential work order numbers with the document attached to the task. Example: WO-2026-1007.
Asset Records
Tag and record numbers kept per location or type. Example: AST-00231.
Deterministic by Design
The same input, the same template version and the same renderer version produce the same document. Numbering, formatting, merging, QR codes and writeback are code, not model output, so nothing you issue depends on inference.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Make or Zapier to use Render?
No. Render needs no Make or Zapier license. The only thing you set up outside Render is the native ClickUp automation that calls it, and Render generates the instructions for that.
Why not build this myself in an automation tool?
You can, and for unusual needs that is a good choice. For numbering, documents and work breakdown codes, Render has already solved the hard parts: unique numbers under simultaneous triggers, repeatable documents, a verification registry, and retries. You skip the building, testing and monitoring.
Is Render available now?
Yes. Render is live at render.kodavara.io. Sign up, connect your ClickUp workspace and set up the tools you need. Contact us if you would like help getting set up.
What is Code Linker?
Code Linker links one anchor task, such as a project, to the Lists or Folders that hold its work. It passes values such as a project code down to the linked tasks and rolls totals such as hours, cost and progress back up onto the anchor. It follows fixed rules, uses no AI and shows you a preview first.
What is the Registry?
The Registry is a built-in, searchable record of what Render produces, with a public QR verification page, revoke and valid-until controls and a CSV export. It works with Structured Outputs, the Sequencer and Code Linker.
Do I have to use all four tools?
No. The Sequencer, Structured Outputs, the WBS Mapper and Code Linker are separate tools. Use one, two or all four. Each has its own trigger, rules and setup, and none depends on another.
Which ClickUp plans does Render work on?
Render is designed to work on every ClickUp plan. Automation stays in ClickUp: Render gives you the setup instructions for the ClickUp automation that calls it.
Does Render use AI?
No. Numbering, formatting, merging, QR codes and writeback are code, not model output, so nothing you issue depends on inference and no AI credits are consumed.
What happens if the same task triggers twice?
A task asked twice gets the same number back, and a duplicate trigger reuses the existing document, so retries never spend a second number. A real change to the task produces a new document version, and the old one is kept.
What templates can I use for documents?
Upload the template you already have as a PDF, PNG or JPEG and Render writes each record onto it, or build a layout from scratch with text, boxes, rules and a QR code.
How does verification work?
Each document carries a QR code and link to a public page that says whether the document is still valid, and says so plainly when it has been revoked.
Will my registry keep working if I stop using Render?
Render can keep a synchronized registry in a ClickUp list of your own, so the record lives in your workspace as well as in Kodavara.
