Agentic Automation

Where Agentic Automation Fits in Book & Digital Publishing

Agents handle the judgment calls and repetitive follow-up. Rules keep the predictable steps predictable, and people stay in control of anything that matters.

1

Schedule Chasing

An agent finds manuscripts and assignments close to or past their due dates and drafts reminders to the writers or editors. An editor approves each message before it is sent.

2

Metadata Drafts

An agent drafts back-cover copy options, keywords and category suggestions from the manuscript summary. The editor reviews and revises them before they are used.

3

Style Sheet Checks

During copyediting, an agent compares notes against the title's style sheet and lists inconsistencies in spelling or terms. The copyeditor decides what to change.

4

Production Readiness Reports

An agent checks each upcoming title against the production checklist and summarizes what is missing before files go to the printer. A production manager approves release.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ClickUp replace our manuscript and layout tools?

No. Writing, editing and layout stay in the tools your teams use. ClickUp tracks the schedule, assignments and approvals around them, and tasks link to the files.

Can agents edit or change a manuscript?

We recommend that they do not alter manuscripts. Agents flag issues, draft notes and summaries, and a person decides on any change, with a log of what the agent did. We keep unpublished manuscripts out of agent workflows unless your author agreements and policies allow it.

Can we use this for both print and digital titles?

Yes. We build templates for each format with the fields and checklists they need, such as print specifications or digital file formats, while keeping one view of the whole list.
