Moving Tasks and Spaces Between ClickUp Workspaces: What Actually Works
There is no native way to move a task or a Space from one ClickUp Workspace to another, and it is a long-open request. There are workarounds, each with limits. This guide compares them so you can pick a route before you start.

What ClickUp Does Today
What You Can Do Natively
Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.
No Per-Task or Per-Space Move
Requests to move items and Spaces across Workspaces have been open on ClickUp's feedback board for a long time. There is no built-in move or copy.
Consolidate Workspaces
ClickUp offers a one-way migration of one Workspace into another. It is run by ClickUp on a schedule, needs downtime for both Workspaces and archives the source. Check ClickUp's help center for the current requirements.
Share a Space Template
A Space template can be shared to another Workspace, which is the usual way to carry a Space's structure across while leaving the source intact.
CSV Export and Import
A task export lists fields such as ID, name, description, status, dates, parent and subtask IDs, assignees, tags, priority, location and time estimate, with attachment links rather than the files themselves.
Where It Falls Short
The Gaps People Run Into
If these are your problem, keep reading.
- Parent and child links do not survive an import into another ClickUp account.
- Attachments export as names, not files.
- Comments, time entries and history may not carry over, so plan on rebuilding what a CSV does not hold.
- Consolidate is one-way and scheduled by ClickUp, so it does not suit a partial move.
- Every route needs your statuses, fields and people mapped between the two Workspaces.
Worked Example
Example: Choosing a Route
Start from what you need to move. These are typical matches, not guarantees.
| What You Need to Move | Usual Route | Watch Out For |
|---|---|---|
| A whole Workspace into another | Consolidate Workspaces | One-way, scheduled, source archived |
| The structure of a Space | Share a Space template | Structure only, plan the data separately |
| A set of tasks in bulk | CSV export and import | Parents and subtasks need fixing afterwards |
| One client's work into their own Workspace | Template for structure plus a planned move of the tasks | Map statuses, fields and people first |
Sample data for illustration.
How Kodavara Consulting Does It
Set It Up Once
We plan the move, map the differences and check the result, so nothing important is lost on the way.
Compare the Two Workspaces
See how custom fields, tags and statuses differ between the source and the target, so the gaps are known up front.
Choose the Route
Pick Consolidate, templates, CSV or a planned scripted move, based on what you need to carry over.
Map Fields, Statuses and People
Decide how each source value lands in the target, and write the mapping down.
Move in Stages and Validate
Move a pilot first, check counts and key tasks, then move the rest and check again.
Rebuild and Clean Up
Recreate what did not carry over, such as relationships and views, and retire the old Workspace when you are sure.
FAQ
Common Questions
Not here? Ask us.
Can I move a task to another ClickUp Workspace?
There is no native way to move or copy a task between Workspaces. It is a long-open request on ClickUp's feedback board.
What is Consolidate Workspaces?
A ClickUp-run, one-way migration of one Workspace into another. It is scheduled, needs downtime and archives the source. Check ClickUp's help center for current details.
Does a CSV import keep subtasks?
Parent and child links do not survive an import into another ClickUp account, so subtasks need to be reconnected afterwards.
Do comments and attachments come across?
Attachments export as names, not files. Comments, time entries and history may not carry over.
Can I move just one Space?
Share the Space as a template to carry its structure. Moving the work inside it needs a separate plan.
Can you manage the move?
Yes. We compare the Workspaces, plan and run the move in stages and validate the result with you.
