ClickUp CRM Setup: Build a Pipeline That Fits How You Actually Sell

ClickUp is not a purpose-built CRM and has no native contact or company object. It can still run a CRM well when it is configured with care. This guide shows what ClickUp gives you, the gaps to plan around, and the full configuration we build: structure, fields, pipeline, forms, automation, email and reports.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

A CRM Is a Configuration

ClickUp has no native CRM object model. A CRM is built from tasks, custom fields, Relationships, Board view, Forms, Automations and Dashboards, and ClickUp provides CRM templates as a starting point.

The Building Blocks

Currency fields for deal value, date fields for close dates, dropdowns for source and industry, people fields for owners and a Board view for the pipeline. Forms capture leads.

Email Inside ClickUp

The Email ClickApp sends and receives email in tasks through Gmail, Outlook or IMAP. Account allowances depend on your plan, and guests cannot use it.

A HubSpot Integration

ClickUp lists a native HubSpot integration with two-way sync, for teams that want a dedicated CRM alongside it.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Contacts, leads, accounts and deals are all tasks with custom fields, and ClickUp enforces no lifecycle rules, so the data model is yours to design and keep tidy.
  • Users have asked for a native contacts or client object and for better contact import.
  • ClickUp has no native duplicate detection, so duplicate contacts are something to design for.
  • Reviewers say quoting and invoicing are weak. Quotes and proposals run through documents or approval workflows, not a quote engine.
  • Reviewers describe forecasting and analytics as lighter than a dedicated CRM.

Example: A Deal Record

2

Design the Data Model

We decide the records, fields and relationships, and the rules that keep them consistent.

3

Build Structure, Fields and Forms

We create the Space, Lists, fields, statuses, Board views and the lead form, and test them with sample deals.

4

Add Automation, Email and Dashboards

We add the routing and follow-up rules, connect email and build the dashboards your leaders will actually use.

5

Import, Train and Hand Over

We clean and import your existing contacts and deals, train the team and document how everything works.

FAQ

Common Questions

Not here? Ask us.

Does ClickUp have a CRM?

ClickUp has no native CRM object model. It provides CRM templates and the building blocks to configure one: custom fields, Relationships, Board view, Forms, Automations and Dashboards.

Is ClickUp good enough as a CRM?

For many small and mid-sized teams, a well-configured ClickUp works. If you need advanced forecasting, marketing automation or very high volumes, a dedicated CRM may suit you better. We tell you which up front.

Can ClickUp connect to HubSpot?

Yes. ClickUp lists a native HubSpot integration with two-way sync.

Can I send email from ClickUp?

Yes, with the Email ClickApp, using Gmail, Outlook or IMAP. Allowances depend on your plan and guests cannot use it.

How do you prevent duplicate contacts?

ClickUp has no built-in duplicate detection, so we design for it with required fields, naming rules and a regular duplicate check.

Can you move our existing contacts and deals in?

Yes. We clean the data, map it to the new fields and import it in batches, then check the result with you.
