ClickUp Content Calendar: One Workflow from Idea to Published

ClickUp can run a content calendar using Calendar view, a Form for requests, statuses for each stage and recurring tasks for regular content. Calendar view is on all plans. Some Custom Fields do not show in it, and approvals are a process you design. This guide shows the workflow and the configuration we build.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

Calendar View

Calendar view is available on all plans. Items can be customised and categorised, and not every Custom Field can be shown on the calendar.

Forms for Requests

A Form creates a task for each request, can apply a task template and supports Custom Fields. Conditional logic needs Business Plus or Enterprise.

Statuses as Stages

Idea, Briefed, Drafting, In Review, Approved, Scheduled and Published give every piece one place to be.

Recurring Tasks

Recurring tasks create regular content, such as a weekly newsletter, with checklists and Custom Fields. Showing future recurrences on the calendar needs a paid plan.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Calendar view shows dates, not the full workflow, so pair it with a Board view of statuses.
  • ClickUp does not publish content. Scheduling in your publishing tools is separate.
  • Approvals are built from statuses, assigned comments and checklists. For rounds of visual review, a proofing tool may fit better.
  • Channels, campaigns and content types need Custom Fields and consistent options, or filters stop working.
  • Form branding and conditional logic depend on plan, so check yours.
