ClickUp Export Custom Fields: How to Get Them Into CSV or Excel
ClickUp's workspace-level task export does not include custom fields, but a List or Table view export does. That works for one view at a time. This guide shows what each route covers and how to export custom fields from several lists into one tidy file.

What ClickUp Does Today
What You Can Do Natively
Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.
Export From a List or Table View
A List or Table view can be exported to CSV or Excel, and custom fields come out as columns. An export covers one view. A view at a higher level can span several Lists, but custom-field columns, formatting and delivery still need work, which is where DataFlow comes in.
The Workspace Task Export
The Workspace-level task export is CSV only. It includes details such as comments, checklists and time tracked, but custom fields come from List and Table view exports instead.
Plan Limits
Export allowances differ by plan and by export type, and ClickUp documents them in more than one place, so check the current limits for your plan before you plan around them.
Who Can Export
Exporting is a permission that can be switched off for members, and guests cannot export.
Where It Falls Short
The Gaps People Run Into
If these are your problem, keep reading.
- A view export is per view, so merging custom fields from several Lists into one file takes extra work.
- Multi-value fields such as labels land in one cell, so check how they read before you share the file.
- Headers are your field names, so renaming a column for another system means editing the file.
- The export is started by hand and the plan limit can run out.
- Dates, durations and statuses come out in ClickUp's formats, not the ones another system expects.
Worked Example
Example: One Export Across Several Lists
Custom fields from every list in scope sit side by side, with the header renamed for the receiving system. Values here are illustrative.
| Task | client_code | Status | Budget | Owner(s) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Site audit | Acme | In progress | As stored in ClickUp | Ana; Ben |
| Logo refresh | Birch | Done | As stored in ClickUp | Ana |
| Contract review | Acme | To do | As stored in ClickUp | Ravi |
Sample data for illustration.

Moving ClickUp Data Into Another System?
DataFlow maps, reshapes, scrubs and transforms raw ClickUp data so the system on the other end accepts it. Durations become hours, dates change format and status values are mapped.
What the video shows
Raw ClickUp values on the left, such as a duration of 9,000,000 ms, the date Sep 7, 2026 and a status of In Progress. On the right, what the receiving system needs: 2.50 hours, 2026-09-07 and ACTIVE. DataFlow sits in between and does the conversion, so the exported file arrives ready to use.
How DataFlow Does It
Set It Up Once
DataFlow reads the custom fields on the lists you choose and lets you shape the columns once.
Connect and Let It Read Your Fields
Connect ClickUp and wait for DataFlow to read the fields in your workspace.
Choose the Scope
Pick tasks as the row type, then the Spaces, Folders and Lists to include or leave out. Lists added later to a Folder are picked up.
Tick the Custom Fields
Choose the fields you want. Custom fields from the selected lists are merged into the same columns.
Rename and Shape Each Column
Use a column's settings to rename the header (the ClickUp field name is untouched), choose how multi-value fields appear (one cell, first value only or one row each), set date and number formats, find and replace values, and set text for empty ones.
Preview, Then Schedule
Check the first 25 rows through the real pipeline, pick CSV or Excel, and run it on demand or on a schedule.
FAQ
Common Questions
Not here? Ask us.
Does the ClickUp workspace export include custom fields?
Custom fields come from List and Table view exports rather than the Workspace-level task export.
Can I export custom fields from multiple lists at once?
A native view export covers one view. DataFlow merges the custom fields from every list in the scope you choose into one file.
How does DataFlow handle multi-value fields?
You choose per column: all values in one cell, the first value only, or one row per value. It warns you when one row per value would multiply your rows.
Can I rename the column headers?
Yes. Renaming changes only the export. The field name in ClickUp is untouched.
Can I see how a field will look before I run it?
Yes. The preview shows the first 25 rows through the real export pipeline, including warnings such as a column that is empty in every sampled row.
Which formats can I get?
CSV and Excel. Excel can put each client or other value on its own tab.
