ClickUp and Jira: How to Keep Both in Sync Without Duplicate Work

ClickUp has a Jira importer, which is a one-time move, but there is no native ongoing two-way sync. Continuous sync comes from third-party tools such as Unito, Getint or Tray.ai, or from a custom build on the two APIs. This guide covers when to sync, how to map statuses, and the configuration we build and monitor.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

A One-Time Import

ClickUp can import from Jira as a one-time move. It is not an ongoing sync, and details such as comments and attachments should be checked in your own trial.

Third-Party Sync

Unito, Getint and Tray.ai describe live one-way or two-way sync of issues and tasks, status, priority, assignees and custom fields. Unito is also listed on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Automation Platforms

Zapier and Make can move individual events between the tools, but each scenario tends to be one way and fields need separate flows.

API and Webhooks

Both tools have REST APIs and webhooks, so a custom sync is possible when off-the-shelf tools do not fit.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Statuses rarely match one for one. Jira workflows have transitions with rules, while ClickUp statuses are simpler, so mapping needs decisions.
  • Two systems of record invite conflicts when both sides edit the same field, so each field needs a clear owner.
  • Sync delay, duplicate creation and field type mismatches are common concerns, so test with real data before you trust it.
  • Third-party sync tools are paid, so cost grows with the number of projects and items synced.
  • Comments and attachments may or may not sync depending on the tool and settings.

How Kodavara Consulting Does It

Set It Up Once

We decide what should sync, choose the tool and test it on real issues.

1

Decide What Should Sync

We separate what both teams need to see from what only one team needs.

2

Assign Field Owners

We agree which side wins for each field.

3

Map Statuses and Fields

We build the mapping and a fallback for new statuses.

4

Pilot on One Project

We sync one project, check results and adjust.

5

Roll Out and Monitor

We extend the sync and set up alerts.

FAQ

Common Questions

Not here? Ask us.

Does ClickUp have a native Jira sync?

ClickUp has a one-time Jira import, but no native ongoing two-way sync.

How do I sync ClickUp and Jira continuously?

With a third-party tool such as Unito, Getint or Tray.ai, or a custom build using both APIs and webhooks.

Can statuses sync two ways?

Usually yes through those tools, but mapping needs care because Jira workflows are more detailed than ClickUp statuses.

Do comments and attachments sync?

It depends on the tool and settings. We test this on your data before relying on it.

Is it free?

The third-party tools are paid with trials. We do not quote prices here.

When is a custom build better?

When you have many projects, strict field rules or cost concerns at volume.
