ClickUp Task to PDF: Print, Export or Generate a Branded Job Sheet

You can print a single ClickUp task to PDF from your browser. If you need the same layout every time, with your logo, custom fields, a checklist and the file back on the task, you need more than print. This guide covers both.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

Print the Task

Open the task, choose Print from its menu, and set the browser destination to Save as PDF. This works in the web app only and gives you the task as it looks on screen.

Export a Doc to PDF

If the content lives in a ClickUp Doc, you can export it to PDF, Markdown or HTML, one page or all pages. Embedded content is not included.

Save a Dashboard as PDF

A Dashboard can be saved as a PDF, which suits reports but not single tasks.

Doc Templates

Docs and pages can be saved as templates, so a standard layout can be reused, though the values still have to be filled in by hand.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Print gives you the task screen, not a designed work order, certificate or job sheet.
  • There is no built-in way to apply your own letterhead or layout to a task.
  • Custom field values, checklist items and subtasks come out as they appear on screen, not in a layout you control.
  • Nothing attaches the finished PDF back to the task for you.
  • Each PDF is made by hand, one task at a time.

Worked Example

Example: A Job Sheet Built From One Task

The page is designed once. For each task, Render fills it in from the task and its custom fields, and repeats the checklist as rows.

How Render Does It

Set It Up Once

Render turns a task into the PDF you designed, and puts it back on the task.

1

Design the Page

Upload your own PDF, PNG or JPEG as the background, or lay a page out from scratch with text, boxes, rules and a logo.

2

Map the Fields

Match each placeholder to a task value, a custom field or a computed value. Checklist items and subtasks can repeat as table rows.

3

Preview With Awkward Data

See the real PDF with a very long name and empty fields before anyone receives one. Required fields are enforced.

4

Choose What Goes Back

Attach the PDF to the task, write a link or number to a field, add a comment and set a status.

5

Trigger It From ClickUp

Add a ClickUp automation that calls the output's webhook address when a task reaches the status you choose, and run it once on a real task to test.

FAQ

Common Questions

Not here? Ask us.

How do I print a ClickUp task to PDF?

Open the task, choose Print from its menu and set the destination to Save as PDF in your browser. This works in the web app only.

Can I add my logo and layout?

Not with native print. Render lets you use your own PDF, PNG or JPEG as the page, or design a layout, and place task values on it.

Can the PDF include the checklist and subtasks?

Render can read checklist items and subtask names and repeat them as table rows, continuing onto extra pages if needed.

Does the PDF attach itself to the task?

With Render, yes. It attaches the file and can also write a link, add a comment and set a status.

Can I make a Word document instead?

No. Render produces PDFs only, and does not use Word or Google Docs templates.

Will the PDF change if the task changes?

No. Values are saved when the PDF is made. A genuine change followed by a new run makes a new version and keeps the old one.
