Google Drive, Gmail and Sheets with ClickUp: What Connects and What Does Not

ClickUp has a native Google Drive integration for attaching and embedding files, and a Gmail Chrome extension for turning emails into tasks. There is no native Google Sheets sync, so spreadsheets connect through automation tools. This guide shows what each connection really does and the configuration we build.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

Google Drive

A native integration on paid plans. Files attach or embed in tasks and comments, and Google Docs can be created from task attachments. It links files rather than syncing folders.

Gmail

A Chrome extension, available on all plans, that creates a task from an email or attaches an email to a task, with replies from within.

Google Sheets

There is no native sync. Rows can create tasks, and tasks can create rows, through Zapier, Make or similar tools.

Automated Email to Task

Emailing a ClickUp List address creates a task on every plan, but it is a manual forward for each email, and ClickUp does not currently support automating that feature. Rules that turn labelled emails into tasks use an automation tool or the API.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Drive is link and embed, not a two-way folder sync, so file changes are not mirrored into ClickUp.
  • The Gmail extension is manual per email unless an automation handles it.
  • Sheets sync through middleware can duplicate rows or tasks when a flow is retried.
  • Sharing permissions can break, since a task member may not have access to the Drive file.
  • Polling triggers cause delays, and per-task pricing grows with volume.

Yes. It is a native integration on paid plans for attaching and embedding files.

Does ClickUp integrate with Gmail?

Yes, through a Chrome extension available on all plans.

Through an automation tool or ClickUp email features, which we verify for your setup.

Because Drive permissions are separate from ClickUp access.

When is a custom build better?
