ClickUp for Video Production: One Pipeline from Brief to Final Delivery

ClickUp can run the project side of video production: briefs in Docs, a template with stages from pre-production to delivery, a calendar of shoot and edit dates, and review rounds on each cut. Large media files live in your storage and review tools, linked from the task. This guide shows the configuration we build.

What ClickUp Does Today

What You Can Do Natively

Start with the features available on your ClickUp plan.

Production Template

A Folder template per project type saves the stages, tasks and checklists, with the parts you choose.

Briefs and Scripts

Docs hold briefs, scripts and shot lists, linked to the tasks they belong to.

Schedule and Calendar

Calendar view and Gantt view show shoot days, edits and delivery dates, with dependencies between stages.

Review Rounds

Statuses and assigned comments model review rounds. For frame-level proofing, a tool such as Ziflow can connect; see our Ziflow guide.

Where It Falls Short

The Gaps People Run Into

If these are your problem, keep reading.

  • Large video files belong in your media storage or review tool, linked from ClickUp, not stored in it.
  • Review rounds can multiply, so a rule for how many and who signs off prevents endless loops.
  • Equipment, crew bookings and locations are tracked with fields and views, not a dedicated scheduling system.
  • Free and lower plans limit some features, such as private Docs and Whiteboards, so check your plan.
  • Client access is through guests, with seat allowances that depend on your plan.
